FORMER MARIACHI AMERICA DE JESUS RODRIGUEZ
It was 1972 when I began my musical career. From our blessed Plaza Garibaldi in Mexico City to the most
exclusive theaters around the world. The first group that gave me the opportunity to work as a
professional mariachi was:
1. (1972), El Mariachi Perla Potosina, led by my beloved uncle
Pedro Reyna Martínez. 2. (1973-1974), Mariachí Águila, led by Lucio Carrillo, at El Restaurante Tlaquepaque, located in Plaza Garibaldi, Mexico
City. 3. (1975-1976), Mariachí Los Mensajeros, led by Isabel
Paredes.
4. (1982-1983), Mariachí de América, led by Don Jesús
Rodriguez de Hijar.
5. (1984-1985), Mariachi Arriba Juarez with Oswaldo Castro,
"El Abejorro."
Exclusive performances by singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel.
7. (1989-1990), Mariachi Uclatlán with Mark and James D.
Fogelquist at El Mariachi Restaurant in Orange, California. 8. (1991-1992), Mariachi Los Camperos with Natividad, "Nati"
Cano at La Fonda Restaurant in Los Angeles, California. 9. (1993-2004), Mariachi Internacional de México with
Francisco J. Jara in Fontana, California. With these groups, I had the opportunity to travel to
countries on different continents: North America, the Caribbean, Central America, South
America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. I was also fortunate to accompany most of the artists of my
generation. Live television programs, such as El Estudios de Lola Beltrán, Don Francisco, and Siempre en Domingo, among
many others, tours, recordings, and much more. In the end, I feel blessed for all I have received, and I thank Mariachí Las Leyendas and its directors for the invitation to
this project.
"Arriba El Mariachi Leyendas," por Siempre
